I have wanted to be a signature member of the National Watercolor Society and the American Watercolor society since high school. For years, I have been entering the competitions in hopes of being accepted enough times in order to earn my “letters”. I received my NWS letters a few years ago. I was selected for last years AWS exhibition, reaching two acceptances. This made me a candidate for signature status this year. I submitted two paintings for consideration and was just informed that one of my paintings, “The Barn Door” has been accepted into the 150th Annual Exhibition of the American Watercolor Society and, as a result, I am now a signature member. This means that I can now sign my watercolor paintings D. Simoneau AWS, NWS. This shows that focus, determination and perseverance DO pay off in the long run.
