Dan Simoneau is an accomplished award-winning and published acrylic and watercolor painter specializing primarily in male figurative and maritime art.
Atmosphere and the effect of light on objects or persons inspires Dan. His focus is light as it plays on the scene. The realists, photo- and super-realists inspire him. He aims to capture the essence of his subjects as truthfully as possible. While his work may appear photographic, he usually paints in a somewhat loose manner with larger brushes.
Dan exhibits, competes, and has won many awards nationally and internationally. His paintings are in private collections in the United States and abroad. Dan was inducted into Who’s Who in American Art in 2005, earned signature status in the International Society of Acrylic Painters in 2010, earned signature status in the National Watercolor Society in 2014 and earned signature status in the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society in 2015.
Dan studied fine arts at the University of Southern Maine, graduating Magna Cum Laude with majors in painting, printmaking and pottery and a minor in art history.
