My abstract work focuses on emotion through color and texture. I hope that my viewers will “feel” while viewing the work. Some of the work is subtle in color and application; some is quite bold. Because I am new to abstract work, I’m still searching for my voice in this realm and exploring different application techniques to see what feels right and which techniques convey what I want to express. Having been a realist painter for so long, creating abstract works is quite difficult as my thought processes are very ordered with respect to painting and the abstracts are more intuitive and experiential. For many of the works you see here, the finished piece looks nothing like what I first imagined when starting the piece, even down to the color palette!
